The University of Northampton is delighted to advertise for a Lecturer in Podiatry to join our established team of academic and clinical staff. We seek experienced individuals to contribute to the future development of our portfolio and deliver a high-quality student experience. With a passion for education, relevant podiatric clinical experience, and the ability to deliver podiatry education at academic levels 4-7, the successful applicant will be expected to contribute to the delivery of both clinical and academic modules, including at postgraduate level.

The position will be across 5 days a week (1.0FTE – 37 hours per week).

About You

We are looking for a hardworking and inspirational educator with creativity and a passion for advancing the profession. A level 7 qualification and experience in student supervision and/or teaching is desirable.  Applicants must hold a BSc (Hons) in Podiatry / Podiatric Medicine and have current registration as a podiatrist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Membership of the Royal College of Podiatry is desirable.

As an experienced clinician you will be able to provide quality, research informed teaching to undergraduate podiatry students both within the clinical environment, and through a variety of teaching mediums. The successful candidate will facilitate face-to-face teaching and use our virtual learning platform to provide a high-quality student experience. Clinical supervision of Podiatry students and the provision of safe patient care within a clinic environment is also a requirement of this Lecturer position. 

An aptitude for research is desirable and the ability to supervise undergraduate projects is required. Experience in postgraduate teaching and/or research supervision is desirable. Applicants must be able to provide an outstanding student learning experience through effective planning, delivery, and assessment of a broad range of learning opportunities. A willingness to develop leadership capabilities through additional roles within the Faculty of Health, Education and Society as well as within the wider institution is welcomed. 

Qualifications

Essential;

  • Degree qualification or equivalent in relevant subject BSc (Hons) Podiatry / Podiatric Medicine qualification
  • Relevant professional qualification – Professional registration with the HCPC and a commitment to maintaining this through continuous professional development
  • Professional Recognition as HEA Fellow (D2) or teaching qualification recognised by HESA, or willingness to obtain within an agreed timescale

Desirable;

  • Master’s degree in relevant subject
  • Doctorate in relevant subject, completed or within 12 months of completion
